It’s like I can’t get enough of this duo’s words. I absolutely love everything they co-write (also separately, but that’s besides the point.)
WAGs is one of those spin-off series that just perfectly keep the reader in that awesome world they love. And I do love the Toronto boys.
So after reading Good Boy, and enjoying Blakey’s HEA with J-Babe, It’s Matt Eriksson’s turn to get his heart mended after his ex-wife basically blew it to pieces.
Matt is relying on Fetch, a concierge service that caters to almost everything a person would need, including in emergency situations. He uses Fetch for everything, from furnishing his new apartment, to getting gluten-free waffle mix for his twin daughters. But he’s also using Fetch to keep his crush going.
Hailey Taylor Emery is awe-some! Hailey is a die-hard Toronto hockey fan and the co-founder of Fetch along with her ex-husband/best-friend/childhood-sweetheart. She’s a successful entrepreneur and she loves her company. She’s struggling with co-running it with her ex, but all in all, lives a good life. She just needs to start putting herself back out there, date and find love again.
Hailey has never been on a date (knowing her ex since they were kids, I can understand that) but this is all about to change.
Dogs connect people. It’s a known fact. They’re just too dependent and way too friendly for their own good. And when Matt’s pooch needs a walker, and the ones Fetch arranged turned out to be horrible or stalkerish, Hailey decides to make sure her client gets the best service until she can find one that she trusts 100%.
Only she doesn’t figure into her plan the fact that Matt has had his eye on her….. avatar. And they both secretly enjoy flirting via the Fetch app. And then they meet and. It’s. Hilarious. And adorable.
It goes without saying both Hailey and Matt got over their issues by the end of the story, right?
I adored the progression of their flirting, their dating and the relationship they develop. I loved the lighthearted banter and the emotional depth they still maintained both as characters and as a couple. I absolutely laughed out loud at the little comments from both Blake Riley and Hailey’s bestie (at work), Jenni.
In short – I loved this story and I want more.
Can you fall in love with someone you’ve never even met?
Hailey Taylor Emery has a hunch that her favorite client at Fetch–an anonymous virtual assistant service–is actually hockey star Matt Eriksson.
Although it’s against the rules for her to check his file, she’s 95% sure she spends at least part of each day texting with her lifelong crush and catering to his every need. Still nursing a wounded heart thanks to her recent breakup, Hailey is perfectly content with some harmless online flirting…until she has to meet her client. Face to face. Cue: utter panic.
Matt Eriksson is no stranger to heartbreak. He’s still not over the destruction of his marriage, and it sucks to be the only guy on the team who knows the truth–that hockey and long-term relationships are a toxic mix. He barely sees his kids, and dealing with his ex makes him feel insane. The only person in his life who seems to understand is someone who won’t show her pretty face.
But it’s nothing that a pair of fourth row hockey seats can’t fix. Hailey can’t resist the offer. Matt can’t resist Hailey. Good thing he doesn’t have to. Fire up the kiss cam!
