This one was the cutest. It’s always fun reading Donna Cummings’ stories. Her style is light and fun, filled with humor and innuendos. Even when it’s “Regency.”
In this one, Rosalinde, the vicar’s daughter in a shire outside London finds herself scorned after basically being stood up to her elopement. Talk about embarrassing. But then, Julian Selby who’s decided to make a pit stop at the local inn meets her and, thanks to Aphrodite, instantly falls in love.
Julian’s mission is to now convince Rosalinde’s he’s the one for her. And he’s doing a pretty good job, if I might say so. Sure, he’s feigning an injury and conspires with the town’s physician. But it works for him. Except for the secret he’s keeping from her.
When Rosalinde finally agrees to marry Julian, he reveals his secret only to be, eventually, turned down.
TALK ABOUT DISAPPOINTMENT! The boy is adorably adorable. He’s the nephew of Great-Aunt Aurore who we’ve met in Lord Wastrel’s story, so of course we’re getting a cute dose of Felicia and Hugh, as well as Rakehell.
The story is so short I can’t really say much or I’ll spoil it. It’s too cute to pass, though, so grab it and enjoy.
On this note, I can’t wait for Aurore and Frederick’s story. Assuming it’s planned…. Donna?
