Beyond Ruin by Kit Rocha

Sorry for this late post. I actually had it ready before release day, but a family celebration and my brother visiting with the baby took precedence.

So…. here we go. This one is a doozy and feels like we’re getting close to the end of the tale.

mythoughts

I have to say this book is a culmination of so much pent up sexual tension, so many slowly crafted schemes and there are buckets of brilliance in the ongoing plot of this series, I’m both excited and scared shitless of the next book.

This review is hardcore spoiler free, but there might be things you won’t want to know. So take my word for it – it’s amazing, buy it and read!!

We’re finally getting Mad, Scarlett, Jade and Doc/Dylan’s story and it’s amazing. Theirs is woven into the cleverly crafted early flames of the war brewing between Eden and the sectors, and it yet again proves how desperate times will make you give in to suppressed desires, to hidden feeling and gives you the freedom to show your true self. That’s exactly what happens when Mad and Dylan decide to take their desires one step forward from the endless hits of flirtations, the almost innuendos and simply get in Scarlett and Jade’s pants.

This is actually very atypical for Sector Four as they give in to desires on a daily basis, but also very fitting to those four as by succumbing to their desires consciously they also discover they want more than they realized. I’m intentionally not getting into the pairings and whatnot in order to not spoil.

Jade is stepping up and takes control of Sector Two when Cerys disappears after something very telling of the near future happens. Mad goes back to Sector One to find that he’s dreading his destiny as their Saint and is facing his tragic past, and in the sectors the leaders are being targeted by Eden which almost takes the life of Dallas, Jade and Mad. Other sector leaders are lost, and in turn the remaining leaders are forced to actively plan their part in the war. They are now in this together and not each sector for itself.

Back to our foursome. Yup, it’s a foursome and it must be said – while all the sex scenes in previous books, while sexy and dirty as hell, are nothing compared to the incredibly emotional orgies in this book. When characters have so much emotional trio all baggage, and a justified baggage at that – it’s so much more satisfying when they get what they’ve long deserved, when they find their peace.

I think I’m extra in love with Adrian Maddox after reading this one.

So…. 5 Stars!

18392421Adrian Maddox fled his royal life—and tragic past—in Sector One, choosing instead to join up with the O’Kanes. For years, he’s lived by one rule: love fast, love hard, and always be willing to walk away. He’s managed to guard his heart, keep it whole and untouched—until now.

They couldn’t be more different—Dylan, the brilliant, burned-out doctor from Eden who drowns his pain with drugs and self-destruction. Scarlet, the sensuous, sexy rocker from Three, a woman unafraid to embrace the world. And Jade, the whore turned spy from Sector Two, who battled addiction and came out stronger than anyone he’s ever met.

Separately, they make Mad long to open his heart, to tumble head-first into a sea of possibilities and wild love. Together, they make him burn, inside and out, with lust and unbearable, unimaginable pleasure.

Then one fateful moment shakes their world to its foundations—and leaves the sectors on the verge of all-out war with Eden. It’s the biggest fight the O’Kanes have ever faced, and Mad and his lovers are at the dead center of it. They could end up with everything they never knew they wanted—or lose it all. Including their lives.

Thank you, ladies (Kit Rocha) for this copy in exchange for my review. It’s been a pleasure to “live” through, as always.
