mythoughts

Looking for a Complication by Tamsen Parker

Having read everything published by Parker, I couldn’t start with any other short story in this compilation but Looking for a Complication. I was not disappointed. Tamsen ventures into a F/F with this one, and it pays off. Kinsey and Astrid prove that even an accident can grow into something, especially when one takes a chance. Short but doesn’t skimp in details, feel-y but not overly emotional, and sexy as hell (if you ask me) – the compilation is worth the money just for this story.

And then you might want to take a chance yourselves with Parker’s Compass series. OMG so good.

His First and Only by Alexa Riley

This was… intense is a very weird way. I really liked the concept of the story, but I couldn’t really focus on it as there wasn’t enough depth to the characters (understandable with a short story) and there was the fact that there were details that didn’t make sense. I’m pretty sure had this been turned into a full length novella, if not a novel (hint hint, Ms. Riley) – it would’ve been a great, angsty romance.

Owned by Jenika Snow

This little story is extremely hot, and extremely explicit. It’s too cliche for me, but made my train ride to work enjoyable.
I’d have wanted to read the opposite, when a rich woman buys a virgin man. Putting it out there for any author reading this review.

Rapunzel’s First Knight by Shoshanna Evers

I’ve been wanting to read an Evers’ story for a long time. And I’m so happy I started with Rapunzel. Yes, it’s shorter than short, and it’s a teasing taste. But it’s a TEASING TASTE and it made me want more. That’s a great thing for me, and this story is just the reason I love compilations.

Based on all I’ve read, I think I can give the compilation 4 stars, where Tamsen Parker and Shoshanna Evers’ stories get the highest mark – because, well…. you’ve read my opinion.

Thank you authors for this compilation.
