The Score by Elle Kennedy

This series is simply one of the best New Adult series out there. I love each book so far and already feel like reading The Score again, and that’s just because of Dean.

There are so many amazing quotes in this book, and some of them are in Kassiah‘s review on Goodreads.

mythoughtsHow I felt as I flipped the last electronic page on this:

At first, the story feels like it’s Allie’s. I’m not sure why it felt like this for me since I knew the books in the series are about the group of boys. The ones living together in the house off of campus.

Allie is a drama queen (and an acting student, so… you know…) of the best kind. She’s mostly awesome. She has also just broken it off with her long time boyfriend and will do everything to not get back with him.

Dean screws anything with boobs on campus. He loves girls. He’s good at what he does, he’s good looking (understatement) and he’s got a good heart (when you know who he really is). In The Score he’s entrusted as Allie’s babysitter – making sure she’s ok – post breakup – and keeping her ex away from her so she won’t be tempted.

Naturally, though not the way you’d think things go, they sleep together. The story is actually about how Dean is trying to win her after that one night stand and after she tells him she wants to be friends.

Dean is… frustrated:

Beau eyes me thoughtfully. “You know, I don’t think we’re dealing with a Bella’s-magical-blood situation here.”

“No?”

“No. I think you’ve imprinted on this girl’s pussy.”

Yup, the book is ridden with Beau and his Twilight references and they’re all hilarious.

The sexy filth in this story is superb. It’s even hysterical at parts.

I loved how Allie and Dean’s friendship grew into this special, funny, love story. I loved how the story is actually about Dean, and while it’s light and fun and sexy, it’s also very emotional. I absolutely loved how a tragedy sets the pace for Dean’s future as a grown-up and as Allie’s boyfriend.

I adored the way their group of friends know when to use threats and when to unconditionally support and I loved to no end the way this book ended.

Can I say that the next book can’t release soon enough?

ps – Winston, my heart is yours.

5 glorious stars

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn’t have the first clue about what she’s going to do after college. To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands.

It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her over

Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world—and now she wants to befriends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.
