Bearly Dreaming is, beyond a helluva clever title, just SO good a story. Oh, and it’s part of a fabulous compilation called Southern Shifters KindleWorld. Click the banner for the launch event.
What happens when a polar bear shifter who’s a loner starts getting nightly visits from a gorgeous woman?
What happens when said bear shifter realizes this gorgeous woman is his mate and she’s desperate for him to help her?
Nyla and Kian have been waiting for each other for a long time now, but when they finally meet, they’re on two sides of a huge country. There are many more details to this plot, and make no mistake, there is a plot in this short novella.
The story starts with us getting to gradually know the characters, their predicaments are revealed and the emotions are rampant.
Ellis Leigh did a wonderful job telling us a full story in just 26,000 words and managed to include every facet of a story that make it a great story. There’s character arc, there’s a great (short) plot, the reader (or I at least) was fully invested emotionally in Nyla and Kian getting their HEA and in the middle of it all there is magic and fantasy.
If the rest of the stories in the Southern Shifters compilation are as good, I’m hitting that one-click button so fast my own head will spin.
My rating: 5 Stars
Polar bear shifter Kian Prescott hasn’t slept a wink. Not because of the stress of his life in northern Alaska but because of a nightly visitor he can’t get off his mind. A woman has been infiltrating his dreams, silent, sexy, and downright infuriating since he can’t put his finger—or his paw—on why he and his bear have become obsessed with her.
Nyla MacDonald knows her place in her psychic clan. She’s the weak link, the broken member of the powerful community outside Deals Gap. But when her mating call begins, when delusions tear apart what she thinks of as reality, Nyla must push herself to the limits of her ability to find her true mate, the one man who can save her sanity and her life.
As one world crosses a continent to reach out to another, two kindred souls must find the means to communicate, entrust their deepest secrets in one another, and defy clan law if they are to have a shot at a future. If Nyla can risk trusting the heart of a stranger and Kian can put faith in his visions, they just might have their dreams come true—or die trying.
A storyteller from the time she could talk, Ellis grew up among family legends of hauntings, psychics, and love spanning decades. Those stories didn’t always have the happiest of endings, so they inspired her to write about real life, real love, and the difficulties therein. From farmers to werewolves, store clerks to witches—if there’s love to be found, she’ll write about it. Ellis lives in the Chicago area with her husband, daughters, and a giant dog who hogs the bed.
