Oh how I love the Beyond series. I find myself waiting for each installment with bated breath, I’m so gone over the O’Kane men.
Bree and Donna (the authors, if you didn’t know by now Kit Rocha is actually two lovely ladies writing together) are doing such fabulous job with these books, they just keep getting better. And I dare anyone to disagree *glares around*.
She’s fought like hell to leave the past behind.
Trix changed her name and her life when she got clean four years ago. Now, she has a new family and a job she loves—tending bar and dancing at the Broken Circle. As an O’Kane, she’s happy, untouchable. Until a nightmare from her old life tears her away from her home and drags her back to Hell—also known as Sector Five.
He’s still living—and dying—in it.
Losing Trix was the kick in the head Finn needed to get sober, but working as an enforcer for a man he hates is slowly crushing his soul. The only thing that keeps him going is his determination to destroy Sector Five from the inside. Then Trix comes back into his life—alive, in danger—and nothing else matters.
Getting her home could be a suicide mission. The only thing deadlier is the old spark that flares to life between them. Soon, Finn and Trix are battling the one addiction neither of them ever managed to kick—each other. And it could cost them everything.
Oh yeah, Finn. Is. Awesome. If it weren’t for Bren he’s probably be my favorite new O’Kane. Even though his induction into the O’Kane gang takes a little while, he’s one in my eyes from the very beginning.
See, Finn is originally from Sector Five, and he’s known Tracy when she was one of the sector leader’s girls. One of his drugged and hopelessly mistreated addicted girls. He was in love with her and when she died he never forgave himself.
And then Trix is kidnapped right from under Zan’s fingers and brought back to Sector Five after escaping it with her teeth years before. When Finn sees her, yet again under his boss’s hands, he acts, and they flee.
Finn is basically spends his days trying to atone for Trix’s fate. He’s gorgeous, scarred, hurting and desperately in love with her still.
Trix is blossoming in Sector Four. She came out of her shell when the O’Kanes took her under their wing. She confident, shining and determined. She’s stubborn as hell and will not be dragged back to being the helpless girl she was in her early days at the sector after her escape.
Finn and Trix’s story is incredibly emotional, very action packed and the sub-plots are very surprising. Not so much now that I’m thinking about them, since obviously we’re all very sharp after we know all the details *wink*.
Finn’s transition into an O’Kane is everything but simple, and since Trix is sticking by him it affects her as well. But O’Kanes will be O’Kanes and for Trix they all try. I did enjoy his journey into the O’Kane men fold, the way he earned their trust.
We get our fare share of the other males, I got a little too little Bren – since there’s never enough – and we get one hell of a great story.
I feel like this is a very superficial review, but I can’t bring myself to actually say much for fear of ruining the story for you guys.
** Thank you, Bree and Donna for the advance copy. It was wonderful, as always.
