Castle Hill (On Dublin Street #2.5) by Samantha Young

I loved On Dublin Street when it came out and immediately fell in love with Braden and Joss and their group of friends. Reading this novella made all the feelings I had reading ODS resurface.

Braden Carmichael never imagined he’d fall as hard and as fast as he did for Jocelyn Butler. He also could not have anticipated how difficult it would be to convince her to give in to love. But now that he has her, he’s never letting go. He’s got it all planned—the passionate proposal, the dream wedding, the sexy Hawaiian honeymoon—even the perfect family they’ll start.

After trying to flee from her painful past, Joss is finally allowing herself to embrace the future. But when things start moving faster than she anticipated, she finds herself panicking over something Braden can’t understand. After everything they’ve been through, Joss is sure that their love can survive even her worst fears. But, this time, she may push Braden too far—and risk losing everything all over again…

Samantha Young is amazing. In ODS she took a situation where a traumatized young woman is rebuilding her life with the help of a loving man and a group of friends.

In Castle Hill we’re met with Joss’s mental and spiritual recovery is put to the test, first in marrying Braden and then when news make her very confused. While the story is mostly Joss’s, I felt that Braden is the one that had to learn to deal with the changes in their lives.

I loved the emotional depth this novella has and the complexity of the situation Joss and Braden are dealing with. I also swooned and fell in love with these characters all over again. Add to that good writing, excellent flow and impressive character arc (in a novella, no less) and this was a great, great read and a wonderful complementary addition to the series.

My rating: 5
